We were due to fly to Chile from Peru. We had initially booked our airport parking Manchester terminal 1 with the travel agent before we booked our flight. We arrived at the airport only to find out there had been an earthquake in Chile, and all flights were cancelled.
We had to get to Chile because we had a hire car booked. Our only option was to get a taxi, 200 miles!! It was late at night so it meant we would be driving the night, our driver was very tired and I spent the whole three hour trip ready to take the wheel if he fell asleep. There were five of us in one car and the same in the one behind, we got there in one piece.
We were travelling with two Irish girls who were on an impossible mission to get to a flight, when they were already late, and no flights were running. They were due to fly back to Manchester airport. We heard from them at a later date and they didn't make their flight!
